Atheris Ceratophora

gaboon69 Sep 17, 2007 03:56 PM

Hi guys.

Ive kept hots for quite some time.
Can anyone with successful Atheris Ceratophora experience help out please?
Problem is that she(adult female)isnt eating.Ive read a lot of stuff on them but Im not getting a remedy.
Her wooden cage with good ventilation is at 22 degr C and theres a hot spot of 26 degr C which she visits regularly.

I spray her cage twice a day to make sure the humidity is right.
Ive tried tease feeding her with pinks, scented pinks with tadpoles, and Ive offered her tadpoles too.(forceps)
Ive had her for almost a month now.
No luck still.
She doesnt look in bad shape either, but what worries me is that shes not cocky.
What might be the reason for her not eating?

PS:There is a slim chance that she might be gravid, but I doubt it.
What is the gestation period for A.ceratophora?
Many thanks

Hello

Try bumping up your temperatures some. 22C is a bit low for maintenance time (although it's okay if you're giving them a down time) and 26C is a tad low for a hot spot. Try 26C for the ambient temp and 28C for the hot spot and see if that makes a difference. Also, cerats are known for going long periods between feeds since they are sedentary creatures that are opportunistic feeders. So don't worry too much. Mine always fed a lot during the spring and fall here, but they were very sporadic feeders during the summer and winter months. Shoot me an email if you want to chat about them. squamigers@aol.com
