worm Sep 20, 2007 06:39 PM

Hi im new to lizards, i have lots of tarantulas inwich i am on some forums as well but i need your help. I have 2 HL's i dont have the tech.name but ones a greyis color and the other had a red tint to it (sapose to be desert horney toads?). The one with the red tint to it is verry skidish and dosent eat or at least when im feeding them (which is crickets by the way) He just seems scared and dosent look good like the other one wich is kinda chubby.

any help would be great.

ok just wanted to sum up what was going on for me. The question above only applied to one HL so please do not make a decision on my pets all together because it will not apply.
So i will not bore you with putting my quesion up here twice. The only reason i am replying is to reinstate the question at hand for the people that might think this is one of your dreaded novice keepers....Remember everyone starts with the pet they have some how.And if your lucky you will get some good help if not, you get garbage.

Thanks

As or you not being a novice keeper??? Most herp guys Know this about horned lizards,,,,,,,, HARVESTER ANTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they will die without them even if they are eating crickets, phoenix worms, whatever, I beleieve its the formic acid or somthing like that that they need. LLLReptile had some for sale last time I checked. Also U.V. seems to be very important to horned lizards.

Listen - I sent you quick and dirty over view at what I thought you needed to do off line, did you get my e-mail, if you took this "help" as an insult then that's your issue! I asked you to look at the Phrynosoma Site and learn everything you could, to order ants, I told where from, and proper lighting and the size of the cage. If you're not a novice with horned lizards then why are you asking the questions, I didn't judge your expertise with other reptiles by this incedent but when 'I" called you a novice it was in reference to your other pets but for the horned lizard and my concern for its health and well being, if that insulted you then I apologize but it wasn't meant as a criticism as more just a status as I see it with you asking the questions that you do? So did you get my e-mail and did you do the things you asked help for?????!!!!!!! The faster you order ants the better health your lizard should find itself in. But again that is predicated on proper lighting and cage size as well. With little or no input as to the specie or any specifics I tried to cover as much general issues as I could??? Cheers!!
