I can honestly say this wc western is one of the most mellow snakes I own.

I purchased my coachwhip from a local reptile show. After debugging inside and out I left mine alone for a week. The first time I fed a live mouse. No problem.Since then Ive been feeding frozen/thawed rat pups and mice.

Thank you for responding to my query. I'm planning on collecting a Red Racer next spring. My friends who live in the high desert between L.A. and Palmdale have them on their property. Can you tell me how to debug a Red Racer?
Thanks again, Carl

Carl there are alot of options and there all open to debate. What I use for external parasites is called sevin dust %5.You can find it in any garden section of Walmart,Kmart, etc. All I do is sprinkle it directly onto the snake and let it sit for a couple hours. Then I rinse the snake off good.7 bucks a can and you can treat 100's of snakes.Ive used it for 22 years and have had no problems. For internal parasites my vet makes a concoction of panacur and Im not sure what else that kills all internal bugs.I have it put in syringes so I know the dose rate per pound. This is fairly cheap also as I have a bunch made up for all newcommers.Paul

Hi Paul, Thanks for the info. Would you be interested in selling and mailing some of your concoction? If so please email me. carl@fossilrecord.com

That would probably be illegal Carl.My vet writes out a script for me incase I get pulled over with a bundle of syringes with white liquid in them.lol.As for the external mites sevin dust %5 can be found anywhere in any garden center.

Thanks anyway Paul. I can get panacur elsewhere and hopefully that alone will work. I'd like to hear via the forum how your Red Racer fares in the long term.
