my newt escaped!!

jmont11 Sep 30, 2007 09:26 AM

My newt must have crawled out of his tank yesterday sometime, and I have no idea what to do...will he come back to the water? Where is he most likely to be? I'm afraid he'll starve to death. I have a small apartment, all enclosed, no open doors to the outside or anything. Please help if you can!

As I'm sure you've done, check under things. When I was a kid all my escaped newts seemed to end up under my bed where they dry out and die VERY quickly... If it's a terrestrial newt then you probably have a little time but if it's aquatic then I'd get to moving everything in your place as soon as possible...

good luck! Let us know how it turns out...

why didn't you keep a lid on? nothing you can do now but put waterdishes out. it takes a newt months to stave, but only a day or so to dry out.
