Last eisentrauti clutch this season

John-C Sep 30, 2007 12:14 PM

I thought I'd add a little life to this sleeping forum.

These neonates hatched out yesterday and the last
one was out and running around by early this morning
when I checked on it. There were five eggs in this
last (triple) clutch but I assumed that the fifth/smaller
one was a dud. For some reason I didn't toss it early
on and to my surprise it is now beginning to feel soft
to the touch as the other four did just before they
hatched. So, the one smaller and slightly off colored
egg is now back in the incubator just in case.

It amazes me as to how they are already displaying
some blue spotting on their sides at this young age.
Could be it will fade only to return when older
juvies/yearlings.

Hey thanks Nino,
I might as well show some of the stehlini
hatchlings. This is part of the first clutch to
hatch back in early July. Photo was taken
of them when they were two weeks old.
There were 10 of 12 eggs that hatches as the
female laid the last two on top of the nest
medium and I didn't collect them till the next
morning otherwise I may have had the whole
dozen hatch.

Of her second clutch of 10 eggs laid two
months later, all but one hatched.
