Please identify rescued Mud turtle

indigosnakeman Oct 02, 2007 10:27 AM

Can anyone tell me what type of Mud turtle this is? I am only assuming it is a mud turtle from general descriptions, especially the completly closed, hinged shell. I am in Arizona but this one did not appear to match the pictures of Arizona mud turtles that I saw.
Thanks for the help!

Mayday, you seem to post a lot, I got 2 Striperd neck Musks, and one of them clearly cannot close it's mouth due to Mouth Rot - his mouth is always open a little - any suggestions

Wow, I never even heard of that. Is the mouth rot now stable? The damage done is what causes it not to be able to close its mouth?
I don't know what to tell you but if it is eating and everything else seems OK you might just have to live with that deformity.
