i was just wondering what was the cause of the extra scute on some of the turtles people sell....is it from incubation temps or is it just genetics....thanks for any responses.....

My red-eared slider has an extra scute as well. I think it's probably just one of those typical asymmetries that we vertibrates sometimes have, like how the hair on one side of your head might naturally grow faster than on the other, etc.
