I live in Tampa Fl. and these guys are everywhere. About 6 of them live on my porch. When I put my aquirium out on the porch they filled it full of eggs. Now I've got a couple hundred tadpols. Does any one know what kind of frogs these are.

They are Cuban treefrogs . I have some in my area to but not as many as in your area . I do like them they are neat loud on rainy nights but love them .

I used to have the Green native treefrogs here but not anymore they are all gone .

I have non native treefrogs non native lizards but nothing native

I see a few native snakes.Corn, yellow rat, and water snakes. Sometimes I'll see a north american anole. A lot of road kill going on in town. I have a big raised deck with a palm hugging it. Every 2 or 3 days a black racer cruises though. One things for sure, When these tadpoles grow up. There is going to be alot of frogs. I took a picture of them from above and counted them. Almost 400.

Wow that is a lot of frogs. What are they eating in the tank?

I go down to the creek and gather algee and sometimes lettuce or a piece of bread. They eat everything I put in there. A whole slice of bread is completly gone in 15 minutes.

Those things sound like piranhas lol. I had heard they are big eaters.
I used to dislike them because they eat my favorite green treefrogs but have accepted them. They are here to stay in Florida . I know some have caught blue morphs of them which are neat.
They are great mosquito eaters and will eat nigh geckoes and each other .
They are the "perfect" treefrog reproduce like crazy -eat anything that moves and hardy

Do you see any green treefrogs in your area ? I would think the Cuban treefrogs have wiped them out ?

Thanks

Come to think of it I have not seen any other frogs, even down by the creek. Which is full of africa chiclids and plecustaumus catfish.

Watch out for the pythons when you go by the lake lol. Thats Florida for you lots of non natives .

The Cuban treefrogs will take a big toll on greens but nothing you can do as they are well established in your area by now.
On the bright side they devour mosquitos esp as younger . We used to have the loud Puertorican tiny treefrogs in area I loved those but they to seem to have gone.

Here they might have eliminated the greens as I never see them anymore . That must be neat non native fishtank type fish found by you though I know not PC to say so.

We have lots convict cichlids by a lake in area but its a man made lake . You will see the Cuban treefrogs eat or try to eat each other as they get bigger and you find them on side of your house.
They keep their own numbers in check many of these babies will be eaten by bigger ones once they leave your tank.

Yeah, they eat the baby GTF that are native - i used to catch these guys and keep them as pets and stuff just to help slow the population in my yard and give the greenies a chance, they are really hardy pets and so cute!
