compare Crested vs. Leopard Gecko care

DrSteveB Oct 04, 2007 12:23 PM

The question is the relative pluses and minuses of of Crested Gecko compared to Leopard Gecko as pet; particularly ease for a newbie. I asking on behalf of my sister and her 8 year old daughter who are new to this (I am experienced with Beardies but not Geckos).

Leopard:
- Tank has to be heated and temperature controlled, but dry.
- Carnivore, must get crickets and worms.

Crested:
- Tank has to be get humid, but not as temperature controlled; forest-jungle like.
- Omnivore, can be kept exclusively on commercial food, baby food with powder supplement (i.e. don’t have to get live insects several times per week).

Handleability of Crested vs. Leopards?

Other points of comparison?

Other suggested "starter" lizards?
