Hey guys, just a thought, but maybe more dart frog people can get into the reptile and amphibian chat room on kingsnake?? Because I'm always the only frog specialist and it's like talking to a pole with the snake people lol .
Welcome to kingsnake.com's message board system. You have a point. In all the years I've been on this forum, I've never once gotten into a chat room. I don't even know how they work, but will look into it.
It's strange, but even though a lot of people keep both frogs and reptiles, the attitudes seem to be different between the basically snake people and the amphibian people. Has anyone noticed this? Sometimes the fact that we keep something that is called "poisonous" will attract other herpers, but we are less macho, more into environmental concerns than competing to see who has the longest snake or the best designer color. We have a different agenda. I love snakes, but simply have never kept them except as a few garter snakes as a kid. I've kept a few lizards, toads and other frogs, and enjoyed this. They just never overwhelmed me like keeping darts has.

I totally agree, it's always like "psh frogs" people just brush me off in the rooms... that's why we need to unite! lol.
It's because darts aren't huge and flashy.
People see that I have Anoles and Corn Snakes and go.."You should give those away and get something..you know..better."
Does something being smaller or cheaper make it less significant? I must know. Share.

Do you get any of those junk mails about how to enlarge your penis? I do, and I'm an old lady and don't even have one, and my only penis envy has ever been that I could stand up in the woods to pee rather than squatting if I had one. Or on the side of the road, I could pretend to be admiring the scenery standing up, instead of looking for a tall enough sage brush to squat behind out of sight. I think a lot of the snake thing may be more about how macho one is-- my snake is bigger and more venomous than yours, and so is my masculinity, buy extension, rather than keeping a snake for other purposes than to brag. Not everyone does this, but it seems to be something that occurs rather often. It's a man to man thing that women rarely appreciate, and neither do men with no problems about proving anything to other men.

I actually have a kingsnake.com shirt that says, and I quote, "My snake is bigger than your snake." In some aspects, this may be true.
Yay for free shirts at NARBC.
