African House Snakes

manog Oct 10, 2007 11:21 PM

I guess this is the best place to post these guys?....
After a three month incubation my African House Snakes hatched. I was told that the hard part was to get them to eat when the hatch... so far all 9 are eating great on pinks without having to scent or anything! Great little snakes and the mom just double clutched... she doesnt even look like she laid eggs afterwords!

Great job! That's one beautiful snake you've got there. I'd love to see pictures of the mother if you have any...

sexy...

perhaps in another year I'll try and buy some of their young off you

I'm relatively new to the world of owning and caring for snakes -- all of my experience has been in US field herpetology so I'd never heard of this species before now. thanks again

I love African house snakes. Very laid back low stress animals.
Nice pair you got there, and the hatchling looks great, I like the dark brown ones the most, I lived in Africa most of my life, and kept them from when I was a boy. I wish I could find a pair where I live now. We called them brown house snakes as there are many species of house snake in Africa lol, I'm sure you knew that.
I had a real big female, that was a legend in my neck of the woods. I sold her to a friend who traded her for for a large white mole snake, with another friend I was trying to buy her back. But someone broke into his snake room and stole his collection.
Every keeper who saw that snake wanted her.

I think 2-3 months is normal for incubation. The mother is about 200 grams- would have liked to see her a little bigger but she is a wild caught and i think she close to peaking in size....
Yep, all of the babies are for sale....
