WTF Help..!!!

frogger91 Oct 11, 2007 10:10 PM

Hey everyone,

I've had my WTF for about a year now and all of a sudden he started eating less. Last night I noticed him sitting with his mouth open, so I peeked inside and it seems he has something stuck in his mouth. Is there anything I can do to help him or should I wait to let him sort things out? Also, once this is all better, I'm still worried about him eating. I used to be able to feed him at least 3 wax worms every other day (he really needs to gain weight thats why I'm feeding him wax worms), but lately he only eats one IF I'm lucky. Please let me know what I should do!

Thanks so much everyone,
--J

are you sure he wasn't shedding his skin? is the frog skinnier, or just eating less? if it's winter or getting colder it's normal. if not, try feeding all sorts of food, crix, pinkies, mealworms, superworms, earthworms, night crawlers, moths, snials, slugs, anything you can think of. mist it a lot, they like that. whites are pretty hardy, so i'de just see what happens.

He definitely looks thinner. He's still shedding and everything, but he refuses to eat. I've tried crickets, meal worms, and wax worms. It was cold in his cage, so I put low wattage light on one side of his cage during the day and at night he has a black light on him. I clean his cage regularly, I clean his water twice daily and still, he will not eat. I've been counting crickets and they die before he even tries to eat them. Please help. I'm getting scared I might end up losing the little guy and I will be totally heart broken if that happens.

Thanks

have you gotton a fecal sample done? usually whites are pretty tolerant of parasites, but something like coccidia might be more noticable. dr. frye has medications that are supposed to make frogs eat, as well as dewormer and stuff to decrease other parasite loads (stuff like coccidia). do you see any bruising on the froggie? whites are probably the hardiest frog thats commonly available so if you catch whatever it is in time there is a good chance it will fully recover. you just have to find out what it is soon enough.
