PROBLEMS with my PACMAN FROG

bunkerhill165 Oct 16, 2007 06:26 PM

For a week or so my substrate in my tank got cold and soggy, i have newly replaced this, and the temperature is between 75-85 all the time. He has a big shallow water dish, which he never goes in.

For the last week and a half my PacMan Frog:
Will not eat.
Will not open eyes all the way, or both at same time.
Will not move unless squirted with water.
Is buried almost completly.
Seems to have something on his skin that attracts dirt.
He gets alot of dirt in his eyes( i dont know if its normal)

Please respond and help me with my frog, i have been to multiple sources for help, and all have responded poorly. I am really worried about him.

Its some kind of Brumation/Estivation- probab;y cause the temp dipped too much at one time- go to melissa Kaplans website which mentions it-

Estivation, ok thanks, but do you know if his eyes supposed to be closed during estivation? Because his are, and they are supposed to sleep with their eyes open and stuff.

It seems to me and from what I remember it would be opaque- but im not sure and I dont think it shoukld close- simply put- is your frog covered in some type of membrane- that is usually what happens apparently- although it is not necesary

Ok, thanks for all your information. My frog was awake this morning, with both his eyes open. He ate two crickets.
Thanks again for the help.
