Strange behaviour

DrHyde Oct 18, 2007 01:29 AM

My gal is acting kind of strange....She's been kind of patroling her area, and stalking the entrance, like she's trying to find a way out. She's been very active, sitting on top of her substrate rather than buried under it. More troubling, she hasn't taken food in 3 weeks (has eaten once a week but for shedding since I got her), and is 2 weeks overdue for a shed (she's always been 1x month like clockwork). She doesn't appear ill when I examine her, and has her usual friendly disposition.

Any advice you could give me would be most appreciated.

How hot is the cage? She could be too hot. How old is this female? I'm guessing fairly young?

She's about 20 months, just over 5 feet. She has an under-floor heater set to 93. Her humidity is about 75%.

Sorry I'm just now getting back in here. If she can't get far enough away from it, 93 is too hot for Dumerils IMO. Generally when I temp. gun them, they're (on average) 86 degrees. The humidity is a bit high compared to what I shoot for as well, but maybe others run it that high. Try dropping the heat a little bit and see if this slows her activity to more normal levels, then start attempting to feed again. That would be my approach. Hope everything turns out for the best
