Pacman Frog Pics- can u tell what sex?

doobie119 Oct 19, 2007 01:45 AM

Here are pics of my pacman- Mouth. Can you tell how old it is or what sex? i've read about males having a "beard" and pads on thumbs but, never seen a pic spec. describing it. Got frog in June '07, it was 1 1/2in to 2in when i got it, and now 4x that size. Possibly near sexual maturity? or am i just way to impatient.

The black beard thing i was told was a myth.I am trying to find the sex of my pacman i brought him and the pet shop owner didnt know what sex he was i am just praying that he isnt a girl because i have named him gaston!.In answer to you question it is very difficult to sex a pacman so i suggest giving it a girl/boy name it is annoying tho not know what sex your little gem is

Did the guy at the pet store tell you it was a myth? I dont think its a myth. Pacmans are hard to sex young but I have three males and they all have the black throats. I have heard all three call. The two females I have look like the one pictured. Still to this day I have not heard the presumed females call with the males in sight or even when the males have calling battles. Also, another reason why I think its a female is because it had grown considerably in a shor time under his care. Females grow alot faster then males do. Females are always generally larger then males.

No i read on the internet that it was a myth. Also the page was also saying that the pacman if male when sqirted with water croaks this too is also a load of rubbish

looks like a female to me. Try to listen if it croaks at all because if it is a male it should start trying at that size. Also I have heard that females tend to sit flat and males tend to sit "up" if you can picture what Im saying. hope this helps
