Premature Rosy! BIG PROBLEM!!!

icedearthgoddess Oct 19, 2007 10:19 PM

I had bred my Mexican Rosy this year, but due to complications with the mother only one baby survived. The baby must be a preemie because he/she is only about 9 inches long. She is thinner than a common #2 pencil. She was born 8-24-07 and finally shed on 10-3-07. S/he refuses to eat anything. S/he has drank a few times when I offered her/him water. Temps are about 85 on the warm side and 78 on the cool side. I have tried f/t, in a deli, live, braining, and even chicken broth coating. I am do not want to lose this baby. I lost the mother, that was hard enough on me. Please someone help me. I am at a loss and I need some help. Any and all suggestions welcomed. I will answer any questions you may have to the best of my abilities. Thank you.

Try cutting the pink in half. I know it sounds strange but it often times works. Sometimes small snakes re intimidated by full pinks or they really want something that has hair on it. You might try offering the snake a peach over a pink and see what happens.

Good luck.

Thank you so much for the advice, however, I am sad to say she did not make it. I got her to eat several times, after a short hibernation period, however, she was gaining no weight. She passed away last week. Thank you for you input though, I really appreciate it.
