We came home with these two sulcatas acquired in a trade. My wife has been wanting to get a sulcata for a while now but we weren't expecting someone to walk into a show carrying two 4-5 year olds.

The guy we got them from, wasn't sure on their sex. He has had them together for 4 years. But after reading some information, I see that housing two males together could be a problem. In any event, we would really like to know what we have here.

I did my best to photograph them from two angles. #1 is about 12"-14" and #2 is about 14"-16".
#2 does have quite a bit of pyramiding.

Thanks for any help.
Troy

#1 looks like a female and #2 looks like a male.

Wow! Thanks for the quick reply.
We had thought maybe that might be what they were. But since we were just going on what we had read, and not having any real frame of reference, I turned to you guys/gals for help.

Thanks,
Troy

I 2nd that opinion--
1 is a female
2 is a male

50/50 chance if we are correct!! LOL...I narrowed my 4 year old down to being a female just a few weeks ago...everyone agreed they thought "he" was really a she!! Yah

Yeah I'm going with the 50/50 chance lol.

As males grow older their plastron tends to be concave and the gulars get longer than they do on a female. Females have a totally flat plastron.. that's what I see on both of yours so I dunno. I've heard for years that they need to be 12 inches long or longer before you can really start to tell the diff.

Good luck with having two big ones though, we have one big sulcata, she's more than a handful.
