What is the smallest species of frog I could purchase? I know thumbnail darts are very small but also very difficult to handle. What else is there?

some kind of thumbnail dart, yes. maybe fanticulatus. then you said you wanted to handle it? do you want small or handelable? or both? cause i don't think you will get both. the only frogs that really tolerate handeling are treefrogs, so if holding it is important to you then i would look at treefrogs. but no frog enjoys being held just to warn you.

Oh sorry I didn't mean to actually handle. I meant to care for. Something a beginner could grasp not the complexities that come with thumbnail darts

i would say green treefrogs. they are small ( less than 2 inches) and they are one of the best frogs to keep. plus then are pretty common. they don't mind being handled and will tolerate it.
