Temperment question

rottenweiler9 Oct 25, 2007 09:46 PM

Just curious. Reading on Toks they say that they are like the retics. With these new morphs out, have they found one that is more docile than another type. Like with Retics, the Tigers are calmer then most but that I think is also by locality. Love the post below and what they are doing. I may want to add to my collection soon.

Thank you

Jeff

No they are not like Retics. Unless Kev has some info hes keepin from us anyway. I breed them and from talking to people that do they can all be tamed. From WC adult animals. . they may not be tamed to exactly like you but to tolerate you. As for CB babys, you can play with them and make them as nice as any leopard gecko you will ever see. Just takes time and lots of working with them. Its also how you treat them. If you just go in and grab them then yeah they will bite you, if you gently pick them up they are alot calmer.

From what you just said, they are exactly like retics. Wc animals have gained the species a reputation for being nasty, but CB specimans have proven this to be not so. But even so, special things must be done to keep from getting bitten. And btw tigers are not any more tame/calm than any other CB retic. The tigers got that stigma bc at the time they were first bred, most retics were wc animals.

You must take your time and work with a retic and gain the retics trust, and you inturn must respect the retic. Otherwise your getting bit...Sound familiar, all you tokay keepers??

For the most part sounds right. I never messed with Retics so I wouldnt know anything about them.

I have 5 and the similarities between tokays and retics (i.e. the whole respect issue) is what has attracted me to the tokays.

I think that is was it catching my eye with them as well, not to mention these cool new colors.
