Hi, I have a map turtle and 5 red eared sliders in my pond it has a hole it and its starting to drain and its getting coolder out. My basement gets around 40-50% F during the winter can I cool them in my basement and all so how do I cool/hibernate them??

I believe they'll just go into a state of torpor, but if it's not cold enough, they might starve instead. Can't you bring them inside for a while and fix the pond? Perhaps just buy a liner to put in there for the winter.

I'm trying to hibernate my turtles so I know this is tricky too. Where I live the temps don't get below freezing, but from what I've heard, the turtles will just linger at the bottom.

I may be wrong here, but here it goes, turtles brumate not hibernate, dont feed for a week or two then slowly drop temps, 45 or 50 should do. will nap the winter away. Works for my hondo milksnakes anyway
