My Dumerils Boa

volkmann59 Oct 31, 2007 04:40 AM

I purchased my Dum from a private party that said "he" was about 2 years old. He is about 3 ft. long and about 2 inches in diameter at his widest. Is this normal, healthy size? I've been feeding a small rat every 10-14 days. Sorry for the low quality pictures.

Thanks for your help.

Tony

You can verify the sex by looking for spurs. If you find them, it is a male. As for size, that doesn't look out of line. I have adult PROVEN females that are 4' long that are much older than 2 years old. On the flipside, I have males and females in the 8' range. Size is fairly variable, so long as he's healthy and feeding, I wouldn't be concerned by that animals size at all. Congrats on the purchase, they're excellent boas!

Thanks. Amazing to see the size variances. I did take a look today and I don't see any visible spurs. I'll have to get it probed I guess. If it turned out to be female it sure would be a great boa to produce.
