Golden mantella temp question

Luis Nov 11, 2007 08:26 PM

Hello
Interested in Golden mantellas just saw few for sale. I was thinking of a 20 gallon long terrarium planted .
I know they dont do well at high temps but not sure of ideal temps ?

Food was looking into Springtails and/or fruitflies ?

Any input sites, etc on them would be great .

Thank you very much

Keep them from 68-75 ..no higher..or they'll die.. you can let it drop to 65 at night..they will take fruit flys.. you could probably put 4 mantellas in a 20 gallon... provide lots of cover...that's about it

Thank you I read such cool temps but wasnt sure if that was correct as didnt think it was possible as that seemed bit to cool.
Easy enough as house temp is 72 with fab can lower it if needed but 72 seems to fall into the safe category.

Thanks again

ideal temps are 65-70ish. not above 75 for long though. springtails are a good addition to any diet, but not for a staple food. i would do mainly FF and try to establish sprigs before you put the frogs in, or else they will just eat them all up. amphibiancare.com just came up with a new mantella site with tons of info.
