looks good, but to be honest i only recodnised a few names. i just know common names. as long as you have some mosses, ferns, broms, creepers, and misc ones you should be good. some of the neos make good centerpieces.

Thanks..Do you think auratus will even utilize the bromes?

Slaytonp Nov 13, 2007 08:20 PM

All of the darts I have utilize bromes. They seem to like to snuggle down in the leaf axils. They may even lay eggs on them.

Forgot to mention that it's looking good. I don't have any photos of auratus in the bromes, but here's some of the orange galacts in a Neo.

Your viv looks really nice and full your galacs are sweet too

Slaytonp Nov 13, 2007 08:56 PM

I love galacts. The previous photo was taken 10 years ago when they were juveniles. They are all females, so a year ago, I finally got them 3 more companions and they began breeding! Pretty good for old girls, heh? In the last photo, they are actually on top of the plant leaves and top of a short falls in the "river run" of the aquarium portion of the paludarium.

Wow 10 years ago?! And still kicking...I'd say it is pretty good...I was only six 10 years ago ...and you say the old girls are still birthing?

Slaytonp Nov 13, 2007 11:13 PM

They were "virgin" spinsters until the after the young guys came along about 18 months ago, and just started breeding this past spring for the first time. The males were juveniles and then they still had to wait a bit for them to grow up some more and get clued in. I haven't had a batch of eggs since the first two however, but summer is always slow here with frog love, but the interest seems to be increasing again.

I still have two of my original imitator females, which are still breeding. They are about 8 years old, and have gone through a couple of "husbands," in the meantime, and are on their third.

I believe you said you were getting auratus? My blue females are even older than the galacts, maybe a year or two, I can't remember. When they turned out to be all females, I never bothered to order more to see if I could get a male or two, because for the first years they were so shy I rarely even saw them, and couldn't imagine wanting more of something I rarely saw and couldn't even be sure if they were still there or not without virtually taking the tank apart. It took them this long to come out of the woodwork, so to speak, and now they are out and about all the time.
