water dragon lizard help

kalar Nov 17, 2007 09:52 PM

My daughter has a water dragon lizard. When we bought him at the pet store he seemed very active and alert. We have had him for 2 weeks now. It seems he sleeps ALL the time. My daughter takes him out and handles him well. He appears to be eating well, my concern is he sleeps all the time. Is that normal?

What brand of UVB light are you using? Is it WC or CB?

thats definetily not normal for water dragons, while they may just sit there and not move for a while, it's not normal for them to sleep during the day. i never see mine sleep, even at night they always have their eyes open. you think they are eating, are you sure? do you know if they are wild caught? water dragons are farm raised and wc a lot of the time so i highly suggest getting a fecal sample done. worms are one of the most common parasite and easy enough to treat for. if you catch most parasites in time you can fix it. good luck!

No, not normal at all. I am gonna go with the heat or lighting. Heat needs to be 84-88, and 90-95 in the basking area, with 75-80 at night. Plus a uvb source during the day.
