Hypo?????????

hacker Nov 19, 2007 09:45 PM

Just moved from WI to south east KY and found this awsome little fella. I believe him to be a Fowlers, but hope you guys can help me out on that one too. He is 2". His belly is clear of spots, but his chest and sides are covered. I will try to get some underside shots. The grey spots are more transparent than the white. Some of the spots on his upper side are also slightly transparent and some are smooth or smoother than the surrounding area. And what about the orange red color? Thanks for your time.

Hopefully someone can verify what is going on there. It almost has a calico effect going on, I see what looks like patches of normal color. Are you thinking of keeping and breeding this guy/gal? I would definitely grab up some of those.

Thank you very much for posting those pics. You have some amazing toads. Have you ever bred any of them to see how the traits are genically?

It's an American toad, not a Fowler's. American toads have 1-2 warts in their dark spots, while Fowler's have 3 or more warts in each dark spot.
