fringed toed lizard please help

dragon_details Nov 20, 2007 02:15 PM

Ok just to clarify everything. I am getting a fringed toed pretty soon and wanted to make sure i have everything that i needed. I need a 40 gallon tank or 30 long, two heat lamps on each side( i was told i needed a 150watt on one side and a 100 watt right next to it on the same side and a third long light to bring the brightness up to dessert level), I need a couple flat rocks, some live plants that can survive the temp and humity, some play sand from home depot. and of course the lizard itself.

Please correct me if I am wrong on any of this.

On a side note, how much do these typically cost?

The third light is only if you are using a flourescent MV bulb such as a zoomed 10.0, then you wouldl have three bulb types in your cage, if you use a T-rex or zoomed MV basking bulb it puts out heat light and UVB you would only need two bulbs. Second bulb in conjunction with this is to bring more light into the cage using a zoomed type basking bulb as these lizards like it hot and need light which they are turned on by. Hope that is clear, the flourescent which I do use zoomed 10.0 is for UVB. SO the other two are not MV they are incandescent, a 150 watt zoomed halogen, and 100 watt zoomed basking bulb. THis combinbation of light and UVB florescent has afforded good breeding and egg health. Hope that is clear........
