Some pictures of my Boigas

ChrisLagewaard Nov 28, 2007 01:49 PM

My name is Chris Lagewaard and I live in the Netherlands.
I thought it would be nice to show some of my animals here.

Boiga tanahjampeana

Boiga nigriceps

Boiga dendrophila gemmicincta

Boiga irregularis

Boiga cyanea

It's not all, but most of them.

Chris

Beautiful snakes and killer pic's Chris! I am especially fond of the last one. The head of that youngster looks other-worldly!
Thanks for putting them up.

They are great looking snakes...and lovely photo's..
Hey Chris do you keep B.drapeizii??

regards Paul (UK)

Hi Paul,

I had a pair of B.drapiezii, but the animals died a few days after I got them. Maybe I'll buy them again when I find some good animals. Why?

Hi Chris
I was asking because B.drapeizii is the only boiga I have...just wanted to share feeding information, colour type etc.
Mine is the green phase, were yours green or brown?..sorry to hear they died

kind regards Paul

ChrisLagewaard Nov 29, 2007 11:32 AM

Hi Paul,

mine were brown. The kind you see the most, but not the most beautiful if you ask me! I love the green ones.
What size are yours? And what do you feed them?

Chris
My B.drapeizii is over 2 metres,fully grown I think.
I feed him fuzzie mice about 1 per week, but I have to assist- feed to start him off. This is why I would like to chat to other keepers...I've heard they are mainly gecko eaters, this could be why they are not commonly kept.

Hi Paul,

that's a nice-looking animal you got there.
That's an adult for sure, but it could get a little bigger when it lives long enough. This species is a foodexpert and eats lizards indeed. So you're lucky when it wants to eat mice. Maybe you could put another (bigger) mouse in it's mouth when it's swallowing the mouse you assist-fed?

Lovely pictures Chris, I saw you post about your irregularis eggs too, congratulations on those!

Paul.. I have 1.1 B. drapiezi coming in mid January, it would be nice to have a chat about captive care. I am presuming youre the same Paul that Mike knows (coachwhip mike?) in which case have you spoken to either him or Shaun (weekend lad?) about the drapiezi, at least one of them was keeping them a while back, I dont know if they are all still around though.
