I have a 38 gallon tank with a male and female pair of whites tree frogs. 1/3 of the tank is a 5" deep pond. I was wondering if I could but dome fire bellied toads in the pond or would they harm my whites?

The Fire Bellied Toads produce toxins that would be harmful to your White's. The White's are also large enough to eat the FBTs, which could be fatal to the Whites (and the FBTs, of course), as I understand.

What about African Clawed Frogs?

ACF will eat anything they can fit in their mouth, much like a pacman.
they also can carry pathogens, even though they are immune [their skin secretes anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-bacterian, anti-parasitic compounds] which is why they rarely get sick
