Show some pics of your blue tegus!

jmugleston Dec 04, 2007 01:25 AM

The first pics of blue tegus showed lizards with a definite blue tint to their scales. All the blues I have seen have been either gray or they might have slight hint of blue. Does anyone have any tegus with color as impressive as those that were shown in the old Vivarium magazine years ago? (The were pics by Ron St. Pierre I believe). If you have a blue tegu post pics please.
Thanks,
Joey

Tegus will show the best color if kept outside in natural sunlight. There is a BIG difference in ones kept indoors/outdoors. Ryan's animals (underground reptiles) are VERY blue! Ron also keeps his outside. I will be keeping mine outside when I get back into them.

Here are some pictures of my blue boy. there are two main reasons why he is not blue blue 1) his still young they gain there color around 18 months to 2 years old. 2.) there is less natural sun light and its too cold for him to be outside now. Fro sime reason even the top end UV lighting does not turn him as blue as natural sunlight.

Also as a side note most blues look bluer in person then in pictures. Most lenses tend to filter out the blue and special lense are needed to really capture the color.
