Common Snap-what 'veggies' will he eat?

lpwacko Dec 09, 2007 06:10 PM

He's doin great with the Reptomin-shrimp combo,mealworms,earthworms & nitecrawlers,minnows,pheasant & duck (heart,gizzards and meat)and crickets when I had them.
But was wanting to know what other 'greens' people have had luck with serving thier common snapper?

I guess my question is if he's eating all those items why feed them veggies? They grow like crazy just eating fish and meat.

Oh yea Rick, he's got no problem eating or growing, just wanting to know if I can vary his diet even more, thanks for the reply.

Snappers in northern VA will eat a plant called "Lizard's Tail" - it grows along the banks, and they'll actually come out of the water to pull the plants into the water so they can eat it. So, I'd try water hyacinth, anacharis, and other common aquatic plants eaten by sliders and such. Doesn't hurt to try the old staples like red leaf lettuce and water cress from the grocery store.
