can people please send me pics of their set ups. i am trying to figure what kind of substrate is best and doesnt grow mold someone please help.

My dumpy frog has lived for three years in this enclosure.

It's a glass tank that is 25" high, 20" wide, and 10" deep.

On the bottom of the tank I placed a section of rubber door mat that has large holes in it. I could have used anything that would keep the substrate off of the bottom while allowing moisture to flow easily between the bottom of the tank and the substrate above it.

Above that I placed a layer of air-conditioning filter material. Keeps the soil from flowing into the space below it and creating a mud bog.

On top of that I placed a layer of topsoil. I purchased the topsoil at Home Depot. No fertilizers or perlite, etc.

On top of the soil is a thin layer of sphagnum moss. Into the moss I planted a strand of pothos (or is it philodendron?) and also inserted a small potted tropical plant. I don't recall the species. In the lower left corner you will see a small water bowl. It's a pet water bowl. Serves well as soaking spot for the frog. It's also easy to remove for regular water changes.

There is one large stick running diagonally and a piece of cork bark tube on the side.

There is a screen covering the top along with a 40-watt bulb in a dome and an 18" GE Sunshine bulb in a fluorescent fixture. The lights are controlled by a lamp timer.

when the substrate gets moldy it will go away within a few weeks. and if it doesn't just wet it down until it does, it's not harmful to the frogs.
