I found this info from another site which showed a way to sex the Tegu's from the lumps (spurs) near the Tegu's Vent/tail area. I asked a question there that I have not received a response back yet.
1)HOW old do the Tegu's need to be to be sexed this way?
2)Can a Argentenian and Columbian Tegu be bred together?
I was told by a reptime shop that they could be. Anyone here have this info? Thanks in advance..

whan a tegu reachs 20" or around 8 months old you can sex them accuratly this way. And no a columbian and a arg can not be breed.

Thanks Crimsonwolf. I was told by a local reptile store about the breeding part. So checking for male/female like in the pic is the same for a Columbian? I have had many snakes growing up but this is my first REAL lizard. ( I am not counting all the blue bellies and aligator lizards I had over the years) so I am trying to get all the info I can.

I have another question too, can TWO Columbian Tegus be housed in the same cage (Size appropriate of course)? Again Thanks, Rich

two columbians can be housed in the same cage as along as there is enough space and they are the same size. If they are new to each other then you have to interduce them slowly to help avoid fights. If you check out either tegutalk.com or thetegu.com (i think your already a member of thetegu) there are alot of treads about the best way to interdoce tegus in the breeding and gentic section.

Yes I aksed the same questions there about the breeding and all. So far no one had any idea of the breeding question or sexing a columbian. so I thought I would try here. Thanks for your help..
