I like the pose and substrate of leaves.

I am a big proponent of having at least a little bit of green in herp shots, but in this case, I think the fern is distracting in the foreground as well as obscuring the animal's tail. If that same piece of fern had been behind the animal and out of focus, I think the picture would be even better.

Some people might want a bit more DOF but since the eye is tack-sharp, the lack of depth doesn't diminish the photo for me.

Otherwise, an excellent photograph.

Love the eyes, I did a thing a couple of years ago where I was taking extream close up shots of toad eyes and when you get one crystal clear on a 20" monitor its just amazing,
