Bugs in tank?

cjcjdcl Jan 08, 2008 01:00 PM

I think I have some bugs in my red eyed tree frog terrarium eating my fittonias. There are what look like little bite marks on the edges, and I cannot ever see the bugs. Any ideas? What are they and are they harmful? If so how do I get rid of them?

it could be spider mites. they will severely damage plants if they are not removed.

i had an infestation of those in my M. Betsileo tank a while ago, and the onl way to get rid of them (without hurting the frogs) was to tear down the tank and replant it with fresh, new plants and substrates.

when you spray the enclosure, can you see any "webbing" around the plant bases or stems?

I use a fogger to keep the humidity up instead of spraying, but I don't see any webs around the plants. They only eat the fittonias, the other plants are fine. If it is spider mites, will they hurt the frogs?

i dont believe they will.

my Mantella frogs would eat them. and since there were so many, they actually helped to cut down on their numbers.

but they destroyed my plnats, ao i decided to redo everything and start from scratch.
