Croc skink diet

teatea Jan 16, 2008 02:43 PM

I was thinking about getting some pheonix worms for my new crocodile skinks and I was wondering if these would be a could insect for them. I haven't noticed them to be too interested in the crickets and I have never liked meal works....

Also, is there a difference between pheonix worms and soldier grubs? Thank you

I have no idea what phoenix worms are, we don't have them here in HOlland, but my animals do eat crickets but they are a bit to fast, they usually wait for the cricket to walk into their mouth!

Mealworms, and waxworms are the prefered fooditems. If the shrubs are not toxic you can always try to feed them.

A friend of mine keeps T. novaeguineae and these guys also eat snails, I tried feeding snails to T. gracilis but so far not one has been eaten by my animals.

Let us know how it goes!!!

You may never see your crc skink to interested in anything. They are naturally secretive and prefer to eat in private. I think that phoenix worms would be a great food for your lizards, especially since they are so nutritious. To answer your second question, phoenix worms are the larvae of the black soldierfly (Hermetia illucens).
