reptile expo's?

what do you guys think about getting cresties at reptile shows? to high stress? or do you have luck there?

and are there any breeders to definitely not buy from? theres one coming to Raleigh,NC state fairgrounds in May,

if anyone lives around here or has been to this particular show bought from someone that you know is always or usually at this show and likes/dislikes them please let me know,

and also is it necessary to quarantine geckos that you got from the same person at the same time? i was just wondering because i've never had two in the same cage, and i thought it would be something to find out before i get them,

thanks in advance for any help!

great way to find exactly what you want.
you won't need to quarantine them from each other if they're from the same vendor, just keep them away from your other animals.
good luck,
ck

hehe the post above reminded me that i forgot to ask about this,

what do the prices usually range from at a show? for your "not the most special crested there" gecko, whats unreasonable and what says its gonna die in two days? lol

thanks for any help!

its a great place to buy them. i got both of mine at shows, and theyre amazing. i spent 80 dollars combined and i now have a breeding pair, but its great for cheap high quality geckos, the male i got looked so dull but his crest was huge, so i got him. he ended up being pure orange fired up. just remember simple rules, age, diet, sex, ect. but you should know that
best reguards,

darn i keep thinking of other stuff to ask after i just posted something! lol

anyway i've seen petco selling really little young looking ones,
and just the fact that they were so little and there were like had to have been 20 in there, is enough to be sure i'm never buying from them,

but this is one thing i'm not sure of, what is the best age to get them at? obsessively not falling apart old, but the last one i had i got from my cousin, a very nice very calm cream tiger with a greenish tint male that would sit on my shoulder and be perfectly happy being there, hah anyway the point is he didn't know how old he was when he got him and he had him for two years and i had him for three maybe fore years and then he past away,

so what do you think is the best age to get them at? because i've read somewhere "idk where" but somewhere that theres a greater chance of them not making it if you get them as little tiny baby's, true or false? sorry for it being such a long post

it all depends on what youre going to do. babies of highly demanded morphs like pinstripes and creamsicles tend to be cheaper, but at the same time you dont know what sex they are, and you could end up getting 2 males and losing a great pet. at the same time though the breeders tend to try to dump off their older breeders who dont lay as many clutches ect, which are around 5 to 7 years old. the best age in my opinion is around 10 months to 18 months, slightly under a year old to a year and a half, because their true adult color is out, they are breedable, and are well established. as i said this is my opinion and many people may not agree.
i hope that helps you

thank you very much you made a good point, and you have helped me, and even though i'm not ready to be breeding them yet, that does sound like an ideal age,

because id like to get two females in hopes of having them together "if i can muster up enough money for two that is lol" what is your experience with putting them together?

out of 5 how many times do they Not try and kill each other? hehe, and i know about the hole size weight thing, but that obsessively doesn't mean they'll just get along because they're the same size,

i've always had one gecko at a time so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

females can be housed together. i know someone who has a setup with 13 females and 1 male and they all do fine together.if you are interested in breeding, theyre one of the easiest reptiles to breed. if you get animals of around the same size, age and feeding habits, they tend to be fine, though making sure they both eat is advised, as always. same size animals tend not to bother eachother but there are always those few problems. males also tend to bite the females heads in attempts to mate, so if you get a 1.1 pair this is normal, especially now.
i hope that helps
