Can anyone help me with my sick Frillie?

eightballkat Jan 20, 2008 09:11 AM

I have a Frillie, he is about a year old. He was spunky and energtic when we got him, now he is lethargic. He doesn't move as swiftly as he did before and tends to fold his front legs underneath of himself. I have made sure to give him calcium, temp in the cage is between 85-100 night/day difference. I also have the reptiglo light on during the day. I have read the blogs and haven't found anything to diagnose him. I did take him to the vet, although she was not familiar with his species, she is the only reptile vet in my area. She put him on doses of C, Calcium, and a few others which I do not know exactly what they are, and wanted me to feed him as he were as beared dragon. Fruits and Veggies, he wanted no parts of that. He no longer eats on his own, nor does he have any interest in cricket anymore. We have taken to hand feeding him meal worms, and putting him in his water dish to dish to drink. He does drink and this is when he normally poops. If anyone can offer some suggestion it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You need to take a fresh fecal sample to your vet and have it checked for parasites. Hopefully she is smart enough to do that. Sometimes I have breeders crash this time of year, and I use cat food as a supplement. I dont know why it would have a calcium deficiency if you have proper UV and heat.

May need some flagyl to stimulate appetite.
good luck

The vet was not too useful when we took him in. I have already inspected his poo and nothing is in it. What should I be looking for?

Making me sad the state he is in. Don't want to loose him.

Thanks for the help.

Does he have the proper uv light? Are you making sure he has water in his tank? you need to get a therm & hygrometer reader for the tank... humidity of 40%-60% is fine. But the basking side should be 95 or higher, the cool side of the tank a little lower with the water dish on that side.

.. do you have a tall tank or a tank that is long against the floor?

Please , please help.... He just sits there. He won't climb and when I put him in a basking place he falls off upside down and can't make himself right.

He became very skinny and the only way he will eat is by forcing his mouth open. He has put on some weight with that and doesn't seem stressed by me doing this. He just lays there in the same where ever I put him for the whole day.

When I hold him my in hand he doesn't take action to hold on.

Like he is waiting for his death.....

Please help with anything you might know.
