slugs (satanic)

jadrig Feb 06, 2008 02:42 PM

hey mike, i have a female satanic thats been layin duds. the male is real healthy, but i think i might separate him then reintroduce him to stimulate his curiosity. i know the reverse trios are a better breeding setup but i just have the one pair right now. i have noticed that she is in the "nesting position" in the substrate a day or two before she drops the duds. i noticed this with my mossy and my henkels too. i was jus curious if you or anyone else has noticed this behavior with leaftails before.

well, i never saw the nesting behavior when slugs were laid, but thenagain, i had a lot of areas in my tanks that werent really visible normally...i do know that i had seen my females at times in nesting positions, gone back to check, and found nothing.

yeah, sure enough, i found two duds right below my females resting position. the last time i caught her in the nesting position too. I guess their biological clock has them pretty well programmed and the infertile eggs just take two or three extra days to come out. i remember this with my female mossy as well, she was also just like a clock. in both cases i did have them housed with a male.
