well since no one on this forum was any help and everything I tried did not work I am now just making my White Tree frog Dump comfortable til he passes on. His breathing has become labored doesnt really move and eyes are almost completely closed. rather then take him out and try to treat since it has now seemed to affected his lungs I am just going to let him go peacefully.

its slower here then on a chat room. you have to wait for people who know about the species to reply.

when did the bleeding start?
can you provide a picture?

have you contacted a Vet's office. ( i realize that there aren't that many that specialize in amphibians, however).

and those spots you are seeing, if they are small, bright, neon green, some people refer to them as the "neon green spots of death".

i dont believe there is a real reason why those appear, other then when a frog is about to pass over..

im sorry if help came to late for your little guy..

There are a couple bright green dots. His one leg and part of that side litterally look like the skin fell off. I would give a pic but hes in a hard place to get one and I dont want to handle him because it really hurts and is stressful. He also now barely breathing. Thank you for responding this is my first time posting here I am mostly use to the monitor forum and answers to post over there are quick.

hmm....

how long has it been since you noticed the skin sloughing off?

it may be in his best interest to help him along, and put him to sleep.

if you would like, i can help you with that. there are several ways to do it, without stressing the animal and they go rather fast.

think of his quality of life before your own feelings

just a suggestion.

RIP Dumpy the White Tree Frog died 02/11/08 at 8:23 PM eastern standard time. You brought many kids joy and laughter in the educational speeches we did.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My second frog that I had for 16 months was a WTF and I'm still sad that it died a few months ago. I didn't happen to come by here until now (since before your first post) but reading it I would say the chances were very slim that it could have been treated successfully. Once frogs show serious symptoms treatment is difficult. You really have to be extremely diligent to notice that something is going wrong and some treatment has to be done. The useful information about medical treatments for frogs is scattered and I would say very few vets actually have enough experience treating them to be worth the expense they extract which us usually not practical or affordable. Keeping frogs is not all that easy, although you may do well for quite a while, disaster can strike suddenly. The WTFs are truly wonderful animals with strange and interesting twists to their behavior. You might want to poke around and get connected with some other forums that are somewhat more active like Talk to the Frog and Fauna Classifieds so that you will have resources ready if you need them. There are a lot of frogs in the pond that need good homes so I hope you will continue to take an interest in keeping them.
