Wierd painted turtle

t_curtis9 Feb 14, 2008 04:59 PM

My painted turtle is approximately 2 years old. I often see her basking and she will rapidly shake her head. Also, I've seen her eating bark off a piece of wood. I've kept turtles my whole life and have never seen this behavior. I was also wondering what types of plants/vegetables I can give her. How often should I be feeding her the turtle pellets? Anyone have any info? Please help!!!...

Try greens of almost any sort. Leaf lettuce, Romaine lettuce, dandilions, even mulberry leaves might be enjoyed. Avoid spinach.

You might even try thin slices of carrot or sweet potato. Aquatic plants such as water lettuce and water hyacinth are good, too.

Feed pellets every other day for turtles 3" and over.

I have not idea about the beharior you're seeing.
