I love when people don't credit their sources, but I found this beautiful guy on a related search for a red lizard, any ideas as to what he is? (He's from a programming class assignment of all things!) Thanks in advance of course!

Looks like the red eft phase of the eastern newt (Notophthalmus viridescens) or one of its relatives.

These newts go through several phases before adulthood.

Eggs (water)
Larva (water)
Eft (living on land)
Adult (change color and return to land)

I think the eft phase lasts a couple years.

Now I know why I was so attracted to it - I fell in love with newts years ago, but they are hard to buy around these parts unless you want a chinese. I'm pretty sure I still have a tank and most of the equipment around here somewhere.

Thanks for the detailed info to both of you!
