Color issues with WTFs.

chombythefrog Feb 26, 2008 08:02 PM

Alright, I have three WTFs. One is the Indonesian Variety (I've had her about 6 years) and the other two are the Aust. variety (Less then one year).

Chaos (The Indo) is almost always brown. The only time she is green, is when she is handled. I have changed several different variables in her tank to see if they had any affect. Her tank is planted.

I love WTFs, so I decided to buy two more. I went with the Aust. variety because they tend to be more green. When I purchased them, one was a light green and the other was more of a blue-green. I was absolutely excited. :D lol.

A few days later they were brown and now they HARDLY turn green.

I'm so confused. >.<

Help?

I have 4 WTFs. I find that when they hide in a dark area of the tank they turn brown, and when they are out in the light they turn green. I've had mine for over 5 years now and this has always been the case. I don't think you have anything to worry about unless they are lethargic and unwilling to eat. Do you have a UV light? These are really good for their skin and can promote brighter colors.

Yes, I do have a UV on both tanks.

I'm not really worried, I was just curious.

One of my Aussie's is always out in the light, but is always brown until night. It's just funky.

lol.
