new viper boa.....

dadspets Feb 29, 2008 07:26 PM

I picked up a female viper boa 3 weeks ago. I've offered pinky and hopper mice, even have left them over night in cage but still has not eat'n. Also this is my first ruff scale snake. I've noticed as handling this snake scales have fallen off. Is this normal ? Thanks

its probally w/c. i had a horrible experience with one, and it died. my solomon didnt eat either, but i got her to eat using soft furred mice instead of the normal ones at a pet store. you could also try frogs anoles and geckos, which alos tend to work
hope that helps

You can also try putting the snake in a small deli cup.Make sure it has air holes.Put a pinky in with the snake and leave it in the tank in the dark all night. It helps if you can scent the pinky with a treefrog or gecko. Also make sure the container is smll. You want the snake and pinky to just fit.GOOD LUCK And don't give up.NEVER SURRENDER

Tuna water also might work.

Well finally, she ate. I have been wanting to try the hard way and it finally worked. I´ve been leaving live pinkies in her cage for the last 2 weeks and Fri night she finally ate it. She actually soaked in her water bowl for th first time since I´ve had her. Then with in a few hours the pinkie was gone. I was offered a blood python for trade on her. So instead I bought the blood and kept the viper.
