They look great Tim! Good weight too -- definitely breedable. I would avoid breeding that other female though, just my $.02. My agalma started hooking up yesterday -- great time of year. The forums will be bustling again with everyone's excitement. Best of luck in your breeding endeavors!

Jerry, Your 2 cents are worth alot. I will hold her back right now. Maybe try in July. what do you think? the worst thing, is she won't breed, the male will be spent, or she will have a late clutch.

Tim, I would wait. In speaking with a couple of others off of kingsnake.com, we in unison agreed that the female is too thin. BUT, if you want to gamble with it, it's up to you. I'd hate to see her get egg-bound because she is not strong enough to push the eggs out. That makes $.05 for me at this point, lol.

I agree, she is way too thin. These are such rare snakes(in captivity) I would not chance it. Also consider they often shut down in summer so even if she did successfully lay, she would be even thinner and you might lose her if she stops feeding in the summer.
By the way, awesome snakes and thanks for sharing.

...but I'd say, wait until next year. If she's not ready and lays a bunch of infertile eggs, then even the year after could be questionable. I say, spend this spring and summer feeding her, getting her good and heavy, and stop feeding in the fall. Hibernate her long and cold, then she should be good to go in about a year. You only get so many chances with agalma, and you want your odds good....IMHO.

Ok, ok, ok!!! The unanimous decision has been made. I do agree with all of you, and I will feed her well this year and breed her next. She is a 5 year virgin, but was clearly neglected on feeding before I got her. I paid alot for her, and don't want to lose her. Thank you for all the input, taken seriously and very much appreciated. ----Tim
