My new crested!

youngherplover Mar 08, 2008 06:32 PM

Here is a pic of my new gecko, I don't know what sex it is yet, but it is 3-4 months old.

Does he look healthy?
Can somebody tell me what morph he is?
Thanks in advance!

It looks great! I think it looks like you got a good looking harlequin morph. If you want to look at a good reference guide for morphs you should look at www.pangeareptile.com there are some good resources there. (I think that is the best morph guide I have found yet).

Thanks! I looked at that website, it helped. I'm glad "he" is looking healthy since he STILL isn't eating his baby food or CGD.

Here is a picture of his cage. It's pretty big for the little fellow, but I figured he'd grow into it.
What do you think?
Heh, I previewed my post and the picture's huge...I really got to figure how to make them smaller...

Nice enclosure! Glad to see somebody with a decent amount of foliage in there for him/her to hide in. Is it made of acrylic or something? How big is that and where did you get it?

Thanks for the compliment!

The "cage" is made of plastic. It was originally used to hold shop tools, I think. It came with a removable shelf. We found it in the shop up at our neighbors house. well, my dad found it and thought I would like it. At the time I didn't have a use for it but I thought it was too cool to through out.

When I decieded to get a crested I had my dad drill some holes in it and we covered them in screen for ventalition. The light also sits on screen so that it wont melt the plastic.

It's 24"x24"x18.5", not sure what that is in gallons, though.

My crested does like all the foliage, "he" sleeps on the exact same leaf every day, it's so cute!

Presuming I've done my calculations correctly, that's 6.1666 cubic feet, which translates to just over 46 gallons.

If those were exterior dimensions you gave me, then it would obviously be a little smaller - say the plastic is 3/8 inch thick all around, then you'd have 23.25x23.25x17.75 for 5.55 cubic feet or 41.5 gallons. Either way, it's a pretty big tank; you could happily house 3 cresteds in that much space, so your little guy is living the good life; my adult female lives in about 20 gallons (10 gal terrarium a wire mesh topper that gives about another 10 gallons of space vertically). If she knew, she'd be jealous.
