herping in japan

mldolan Mar 14, 2008 07:26 AM

I am probably moving to japan in the next few months (aomori prefecture) northern tip of honshu, and was wondering what the herping scene was like there. as far s snakes offered for sale, and wild herping. also laws and regulations for keeping snakes both wild caught and bought. As much info as possible would be appreciated. BTW i used to live there 10 years ago but wasn't into snakes then, so i know the area pretty well.
thanks
mike

Hi Mike,
Herping is huge in Japan. See list of shops here:

Dizzypoint Tokyo has nice pairs of Spencers, Parenties and Lace Monitors. Rainforest, endless zone and Maniac are good shops - they can send what you want by post.

Aomori - plenty of helps there. Tokyo is the place for shops though.

Best, Jules
