looking for a newt for semi-aquatic setup (9in long 4inc deep)compatible with a fire-belly toad
any suggestions on what to buy?

if you have FBT you should know they are toxic and shouldn't be housed with anything else.

I know its not reccomended, but 2 chinese fire bellys is what i keep with mine. An pair of eastern newts, too. It's not reccomended to mix species, but they are getting along great, and the fire belly toad's toxin hasn't hurt the newts. If you don't want to mix species, maybe you should just get another Fire belly toad.
And if you do mix, try to make sure the newt isn't much smaller than the toad. I'd also make sure you have plenty of food in the tank. Also provide different choices of food. That is, if you want to mix. GOOD LUCK.
