Do you have a cave (hide) on the cool end as well?

Do you have a thermostat on the heat pad, so that it doesn't get too hot?

no the heat pad didnt come with anything it just regulates itself or just one setting i guess and no i dont have a hiding place in the cool end maybe i should get a cave in there as well??

Buy a thermostat. It keeps the heatpad from scorching your snake. They're only about 20 bucks at Petsmart or Petco, I think. Heatpads don't regulate themselves, you don't want it to just run at full steam all the time, it would be detrimental to your snake.

Yes, your snake needs a cave on both ends, one for the hot side and one for the cool side. What's the rest of your setup, water dish, substrate...?

You said "wood chips" for substrate in your previous post, but what kind did you get?

Okay, first, make sure that sawdust isn't pine or cedar. I'd suggest you use aspen shavings or ground coconut husks from a petstore.

The thermostat I use is like an extension cord I plug my UTH into, then it has a dial on the cord where I can adjust the heat, so it doesn't overheat my snake. I bought it at Petsmart the same time I bought the UTH.

This link has a pretty good caresheet for kingsnakes.

I wouldn't recommend keeping him on sawdust any more than I'd recommend sand. It's too easy for the snake to accidentally ingest it and become impacted or develop breathing problems.

Also, this is an excellent caresheet:
