almost as colorful as a "normal" corn.

Very nice for the species.

Thanks,

Thanks! It's funny you mentioned the resemblance to a corn snake because, that's exactly what I thought she was when I first saw her! Jeff

Youre not that far from fasciata range-could she have some genetic influence from the banded water snake?

The Avalanche has already started-it is too late for the pebbles to vote....

That's a good question Brad!I thought about it myself but,I really don't know alot about their range. Jeff

Just checked my trusty "Conant & Collins", and you're in an interesting area-right where the the 2 ssp of sipedon (northern and midland) intergrade, and right next to the northernmost extension of Nerodia fasciata range.

LOL-who knows what genetic heritage is represented in that snake?

Hey Brad!,Here's some new pics of the girl!I misted her to bring out the pattern.I had no idea the bandeds came this close in range. Jeff

brhaco Mar 27, 2008 06:14 PM

Great looking Nerodia! The banded range, from what I can see, just extends a little way into southern VA-so the genetic influence could be seen much further than that.....
