I have raised an Argentine to an adult before, so I know all about tegus and I own many monitors and my own pet shop. but why the heck is this new well fed little punk eating his own tail off? in the past couple days i noticed a little bit missing each day...and i finally saw him eating it. what the hell? any answers?

never heard of that one in any lizard...but I have some strange dog stories!! How old is he?

Anyway, try www.tegutalk.com or www.thetegu.com

They have more traffic over there and perhaps someone can help you.
At the first link, look for Bobby (Varnyard), and at the second, try Rick (Sisco Reptiles). There's also a user by the name of Tupinambis that does a lot of scientific research in the field that may be able to help you out.
